Louder than Words (2023)
explores the photobook when it comes to compiling a series of images. How
does a designer or photographer curate a series of images into something
meaningful. Starting with a small historical introduction and a distinction
between the series and a sequence. The experimental study eventually delves into a study of
Michael Schmidt’s last large body of work ‘Lebensmittel’ (2012). Schmidt is a
pioneer of the photobook and this work is an example of how a
photographic series can be tackled in great fashion. ‘Louder than words’ is an experimental study
of sequence and series and is meant to be a guide to an still very unknown territory,
photobooks. Something I emphasize during the text.
