Stars of the Midnight Ranges (2018-2022)
De Laet’s first large body of work delves
into the concept of the forest and uses it as metaphor for exploring. By the
use of the visual techniques (rephotography and collage) he turns a forest into
a surreal space. Herein he plays with photography itself by playing with what
the viewer sees. Is it real, is it manipulated, is it studio, is outdoors. The
work doesn’t establish a moment in time, yet it provides a timeless space.
